Hi, my name is Dan and I’m a licensed massage therapist in Orlando, FL. I’ve been massaging for ten years and teaching for six years. I have a B.S. in sports and exercise science. But that doesn’t really tell you about me.
When I was a kid I learned my first two loves. Anatomy and watching kung-fu flicks. Naturally I dreamed about becoming an elite martial artist, and after destroying anyone foolish enough to oppose me I would go about healing them. My family started dreaming about the day I would become a wealthy physician…sorry guys. I did practice a few martial arts and currently practice bjj. Can an old and slow white belt be considered elite?
My dad owned restaurants that I
slaved worked in starting at age twelve. Ten years and two restaurants later he was selling his last restaurant. What would I do with an extra 80-90 hours a week. With my natural gift for watching kung-fu flicks I decided on acupuncture school. Then I learned it how long it would take, and wanted to be sure about acupuncture. I decided massage school would be shorter and give me a feel for the allied health field. I fell in love with massage and never got convinced about acupuncture.
That was ten years ago. I had a blast in massage school. I had awesome teachers and fell in love with massage and anatomy. While I was a student Bodies The Exhibition passed through helping me appreciate the body even more.
After graduating I worked in a physical therapy and chiropractic office in Bradenton, FL. After moving to Orlando I worked in a wellness center, and then a spa. Finally I started teaching massage. I moved on from that first school and am now teaching at a second one. I still love massage and teaching students about massage and anatomy. Since the two years I’ve been teaching at my current school I have helped mblex pass rates go up 20%.
When I’m not massaging or teaching about massage I also spend time with my wife, three sons, and two dogs. I’ll be reading, watching tv, going outside to Florida parks, beaches, or springs. Just not in the dead of summer. I also cook, practice bjj, and take CEUs for massage.
